Lactation Consultation
Prenatal, Adoptive & Induced Lactation Appointments
In a prenatal consult, we will review your health history, OB/GYN, pregnancy and breastfeeding histories (if applicable). We will also do a physical breast exam. We will come up with a plan based upon our discussion and any findings in the exam. We will cover some basic breastfeeding information as well. Prenatal consults last 1 hour typically.

Postpartum & Baby Appointments Include:
What do I need to do for the appointment?
Please plan ahead to have your baby ready to eat at about 20 minutes after the appointment time (we know this can be tricky). We will chat through your concerns for a few minutes about the situation and review your online intake forms. Baby needs to be hungry but not screaming with hunger. Have bottles (with milk/formula) and/or nipple shields or other feeding accessories (supplemental tubing systems, etc) if you already use those to stimulate the feeding process. Have your pump if you have questions about pumping, if we have time we will review that too.
Where do I go for my office appointment?
Your IBCLC will arrange your office location with you and communicate this clearly in your confirmation email.
MAIN HOME-LIKE OFFICE
334 46th Avenue North, Unit A, Nashville, TN37214
This is a 2nd floor office in an historic building. There is no ramp or elevator access.
LIMITED MOBILITY & ADA ACCESSIBLE OFFICE (by request for first floor accessibility with Kate only)
3343 Aspen Grove Drive, Suite 240, Franklin, TN 37067
What is the mask or illness policy?
All who enter the building must be well. If parent, baby or a household member are unwell, please arrange for a virtual visit or reschedule. Our office is a well-only office serving many medically fragile patients. Our IBCLCs who offer home visits will see other patients on the same day, we all need to protect each other.
What do I do for my home appointment?
Home consults with Leah, Nancy, Bess, Heather or Lakeshia take place in your home at a specified time. Be ready just like you would be for an office visit, but in the comfort of your pajamas! Minimize distractions: consider having another caregiver for older children, have pets in another room, and silence your cell phone so you can get the most out of your appointment. Plan to do the consult where you normally feed your baby. Your IBCLC Lactation Consultant will need access to a sink to wash her hands and a flat table, counter top, or hard floor surface for the scale.
What do I do for my telehealth appointment?
You can prepare for your telehealth appointment the same way you would prepare for an in-home visit. Be ready for our call a few minutes before the visit is to begin. Make sure the device you are using is charged. Have good lighting so that your IBCLC can observe clearly and have another adult nearby to help with the camera. It is best to have minimal distractions so the visit goes smoothly, but we understand when this isn't possible! Review any instructions emailed to you from your IBCLC prior to your visit.
